Alta Noir is the studio of A.V. Benford. It showcases the passion and principles driving her artistic projects. A.V. is a multimedia artist most known for her work as a Journalist, Poet, Cultural Critic, Photographer, and Chef. Her work is rooted in text and its creative applications for social change. A proud native of Chicago’s Southside, these days she makes her home in California’s East Bay.
Her writing has appeared in the Southside Weekly, Stranger’s Guide, Word In Black, the Sacramento Observer, CapRadio News, and the journal for the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies among others. A.V. Benford is a National Slam Champion and an alum of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
